Russian Foreign Ministry: Akkuyu NPP project will be implemented on time

The Akkuyu nuclear power plant (NPP) construction project will be implemented in accordance with the required quality standards and on time, Yuri Pilipson, Director of the Fourth European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said, Report informs via the Russian media.

According to him, the construction of four power units is being carried out at a fast pace in compliance with all necessary safety measures.

"Russian specialized structures have rich experience in solving problems of any complexity, they have the necessary competencies, coupled with the talent, skills and qualifications of nuclear scientists, to give an adequate response to attempts to infringe on our interests. There is no doubt that the Akkuyu NPP project will be implemented in accordance with all required standards of quality, physical security and on time," he said.

Once commissioned, the nuclear power plant will generate 35 billion kWh of electricity per year, which will cover 10% of the country's total energy needs.
