Russian border guards bid farewell to Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport

A solemn ceremony is underway at Yerevan's Zvartnots International Airport as Russian border guards prepare to conclude their mission, according to Report, which cites the Armenian media outlets.

The withdrawal of Russian border guards comes at the initiative of the Armenian government. On March 6, 2024, Armenia sent an official letter to Russia requesting the termination of the activities of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) border guards at Zvartnots Airport.

Armenia's National Security Service (NSS) announced Sunday that it would be deploying additional forces to ensure seamless border control and security at the airport.
