Russia set to expand diplomatic presence in Armenia with new consulate general

Moscow expects to open a Russian consulate general in the Armenian city of Kapan in the near future, State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Yevgeny Ivanov said in an interview with TASS, Report informs.

“Orders have been issued to open a consulate general in Armenia, to open a consulate general in the Maldives. Now a consulate general will be opened in Indonesia in Bali. We are now working in this direction. In general, this is quite a large organizational and technical work,” the deputy minister noted.

When asked about the timeline for the opening of the consulate general in Armenia, the diplomat indicated that it is expected “in the near future,” adding that they anticipate it to be operational “by the end of the year.”
