A 128 years-old daily temperature record has been broken in Russia’s St. Petersburg,
“St. Petersburg has set a daily record of the minimum air temperature! Frosts dropped to minus 20.9 degrees, which is 0.4 degrees lower than on that day back in 1893,” the leading specialist of the Phobos center Mikhail Leus wrote on Facebook.
According to the forecaster, in the 21st century, cold records in the northern capital were renewed only twice: on July 14, 2015 and on January 3, 2002.
“Naturally, this night became the coldest since the beginning of winter, and the last time such frosts were observed in St. Petersburg was on January 25, 2019,” he added.
