Poverty rate in Armenia grows 27%

The poverty rate in Armenia has increased by 0.6% in 2020, reaching 27%, Report informs referring to Sputnik Armenia.
There are more poor people in rural areas. They are divided into three main groups: the ‘extreme poverty’ category, which includes persons whose monthly income doesn’t exceed 23,828 drams ($50). This is 0.7% of the total number, which is lower than in 2019 (1.4%). This part of the population is simply malnourished.
Next comes the lower poverty line, which includes citizens whose monthly income doesn’t exceed 35,324 drams (about $75). The third category is the upper poverty line. This group includes persons whose monthly income doesn’t exceed 53,641 drams ($110).
