Political Scientist: France cannot protect Armenia after 'embarrassing withdrawal' in Africa

Armenia's military cooperation with European countries is not sufficient to ensure the country's security, Armenian political scientist Grigor Balasanyan said in an interview with Sputnik Armenia, Report informs.

"France will not be able to play the role of Armenia's savior after the ‘embarrassing withdrawal' in Africa. If something happens, neither the French Legion nor any other unit will fight for Armenia. At best, they will provide a few armored vehicles and Caesar self-propelled artillery systems," said Balasanyan.

He emphasized Armenia's need for cooperation with Russia, suggesting that with proper efforts, a strong military-technical partnership could be established.

On December 18, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan met with his French counterpart Sébastien Lecornu to discuss the implementation of bilateral agreements.
