PM says Georgia ready to promote dialogue in South Caucasus

"Georgia has always supported peaceful cooperation and coexistence in the South Caucasus. We are ready to promote regional dialogue," Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said at a meeting with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, Report informs.

The sides discussed security issues in the region, the impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine on global security, as well as the South Caucasus. They stressed the need to strengthen peace and stability in the region.

During the conversation, the two also Garibashvili's "Peaceful Neighborhood Initiative in the South Caucasus." Thus, the initiative envisages the establishment of a format of dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation for the three countries of the South Caucasus.

The meeting also discussed issues of good neighbourly relations and defence cooperation between the two countries. It was noted that the bilateral defence cooperation plan signed between the two countries for 2022 during the Armenian minister's visit to Georgia will contribute to strengthening peace in the region.
