PKK denies involvement in Istanbul attack

Representatives of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) deny involvement in the recent terror attack in Istanbul, Kurdish TV channel Rudaw said, citing the commander of the People's Defense Center associated with the PKK, Report informs.

According to him, the organization "has nothing to do with this incident." In a statement, party representatives also expressed their condolences to the families of the victims of the attack.

Today, the Istanbul Security Department under the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that a terrorist of Syrian origin, Ahlam Albashir, was detained owing to footage from 1,200 surveillance cameras. Albashir admitted to having links with the PKK.

On November 13, an explosion rocked the center of Istanbul, killing 6 people and injuring over 80.

PKK was founded in 1978 and recognized as a terrorist organization in Turkiye, the US and EU.
