PHOTO REPORTAGE from destroyed district of Kharkiv

The Saltivka district of the Kharkiv region is located near the border of Ukraine with Russia. The district was devastated by the attacks.

Since Saltivka is a newly established district, all the buildings were built in the last 20 years. Before the war, it was distinguished by its natural beauty and economic dynamism, not only in Kharkiv but in the region as a whole. Now there is no trace of it. People are rarely seen on the streets of the district, there are almost no people living in the buildings, and no catering facilities are working.

According to local officials, only 1,000 out of 40,000 residents are left in the district. The district is located in the direction of the border of the city of Kharkiv with the Russian city of Belgorod. Therefore, during the siege of Kharkiv in the first days of the war, the district was a battlefield. Even after the liberation of the region from the Russian army, intensive airstrikes are carried out on the city.
