Over 4,000 people nabbed in Kazakhstan

Some 4,400 people have been detained due to protests, the Kazakhstani Ministry of Internal Affairs has said, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.
"4,404 people have been detained," the ministry said in a statement.
Mass protests in Kazakhstan started in the early days of 2022. Residents of Zhanaozen and Aktau in the west of the country took to the streets to oppose a twofold increase in prices for liquefied gas. Later, the protests spread to other cities, including Almaty. In response, the authorities declared a state of emergency across the country until January 19 and launched a counter-terrorism operation.
During the protests in Kazakhstan, about 1,000 people were injured. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic, 18 security officers were killed.
