The Dostyk (Friendship) order awarded to Margaret Thatcher on behalf of the people of Kazakhstan is being sold in the UK. It is valued at 12,500 British pounds ($16,200), Report informs via Kazakh media.

The order is in good condition, except for a few scratches on the box. Thatcher received the order in 2001 for her contribution to the development of British-Kazakh relations. The Dostyk order was established in 1995 to encourage international cooperation at the highest level.

In Kazakhstan, this order is awarded for fruitful work in preserving mutual agreement in society, merits in strengthening peace, friendship, and cooperation between peoples. Margaret Thatcher held the position of Prime Minister of Great Britain (1979-1990).

She became the first woman to hold this post.
