Opposition reps block restaurant in Yerevan where EU diplomats dined

A group of opposition representatives led by Armenian MP Hayk Mamijanyan on May 4 blocked a restaurant in downtown Yerevan for several minutes, where diplomats from the EU diplomatic mission and ambassadors of some EU countries dined, Report informs citing TASS.

“We were just told that EU Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin is dining in this restaurant, together with ambassadors from various EU countries. Of course, we wish then bon appetit. But don't they see what's going on in Armenia? Don't they see how the police treat the participants of protest rallies, what methods are used to detain them? Don’t they see what is happening to democracy in our country?” said Mamijanyan, after which the activists began to chant “shame, shame!”

Several protesters wanted to enter the restaurant, but the police blocked the entrance. A few minutes later, the activists moved away from the restaurant and continued their march along the central streets of Yerevan.

The opposition plan a mass rally in France Square in the center of Yerevan. Almost at the same time, Prime Minister of the Republic Nikol Pashinyan will speak in the Parliament, which is located near France Square. For this reason, police forces are being drawn to the parliament to prevent the opposition from blocking the building.
