The number of individuals and companies in Russia subject to Western sanctions reached 6,063 as a result of the latest restrictive measures, according to the statistics of the X-Compliance system, Report informs via Interfax.

This number was 1,000 on February 20, 2022, and 5,444 at the end of last year.

Since the beginning of 2024, the United States and its allies have already imposed 1,019 sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities.

In addition, Western countries have become increasingly active in imposing sanctions against companies from third countries suspected of violating restrictive measures against Russia. According to statistics from X-Compliance, in total, the US, EU and UK imposed 483 sanctions against third-country companies from 2022 through 2024. Most often these are companies from the UAE, Cyprus, China, and Türkiye.

The European Union, which in 2021 did not impose sanctions against companies from third countries as part of anti-Russian measures, introduced secondary sanctions against 8 companies in 2022, 21 in 2023, and 16 in 2024 so far. The third package of sanctions included organizations from India, Sri Lanka, China, Hong Kong, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Thailand, Belarus and North Korea.

X-Compliance's regular sanctions statistics take into account 11 major foreign sanctions lists, including the US, EU, UK, Switzerland, Poland, Canada, Japan and Australia.
