"One of the most serious problems in the world in recent years is forced migration," the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye, Mustafa Sentop, told Azerbaijani journalists, Report informs.
"In this regard, we decided to organize a program within the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance. Today we face a global problem such as migration. We believe that extraordinary decisions must be made against such problems. However, we thought many countries, especially Western ones, were indifferent to this issue. Later, more than 7 million people were forced to emigrate to Europe in the wake of the events in Ukraine. We think it is important to understand that this issue is also of global importance," the Chairman added.
According to him, Turkiye is home to the most significant number of migrants in the world: "We have been engaging in this issue for more than a decade, so we have engaged a lot of experience. At the same time, we face some difficulties. Being a home for more than 4 million migrants, including 3.6 million Syrians, gave Turkiye experience and some challenges. For this purpose, we wanted to share our experience. The combination of all these factors led to a Global Parliamentary Conference."
