Moscow summons Moldovan ambassador over remarks regarding Russian diplomat

Moldovan Ambassador Liliana Darii was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry following statements regarding a Russian diplomat, Report informs via Russian media.

"A strong protest was expressed to the head of the diplomatic mission regarding a recent statement by one of Moldova's political parties containing groundless accusations against the Russian Ambassador in Chisinau, calls for his expulsion, and restrictions on the activities of the Russian embassy," the ministry added.

The Moldovan side was urgently requested to have Moldovan officials publicly refute these baseless claims, and "was reminded of the need to comply with obligations under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations regarding the prevention of any encroachment on the person, freedom, and dignity of accredited diplomatic agents."
