On August 18, the fourth meeting of the ministers of internal affairs and public security of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) began its work in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Report informs via Sputnik-Uzbekistan.
At the opening, Uzbekistan Minister of Internal Affairs Lieutenant-General Pulat Bobojonov delivered a welcoming speech.
According to him, the main task before the meeting participants is to cooperate to ensure the rights and freedoms of citizens, public security and cooperation to counter international terrorism, extremism and separatism in the SCO space.
“This format will play a massive role in establishing contacts with international organizations and regional structures of the SCO, CIS, UN, Interpol and others,” Bobojonov emphasized.
Besides, he thanked all those present at the meeting for their participation and expressed special gratitude to the Secretary General of the organization Zhang Ming, who participated in the event via video link.
