Mdinaradze: Opposition seeks to inflict maximum damage on Georgia

The investigative authorities of Georgia should check for signs of crime in connection with the opposition's calls for the army not to obey the authorities, said Mamuka Mdinaradze, the executive secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Report informs.

He also accused the opposition of trying to create chaos in the country: "You [the opposition] are in agony and trying to cause maximum damage. But you will not succeed."

Mdinaradze believes that the opposition won't be able to use the ODIHR/OSCE conclusion [on the October 26 parliamentary elections] for speculation.

"The opposition extremely negatively assessed the preliminary conclusion, and now they're happy with the final one, although it's essentially identical. It's just presented in a more detailed form," he noted.

He added that in this case, the conclusion doesn't address the issues the opposition was speculating about.

"There's no mention of the alleged 300,000 falsified votes," he said, noting that even in the case of emigrants who participated in elections abroad, no irregularities were found. The executive secretary noted that first they [the opposition] assessed it [the report] as a catastrophe, and now they're saying it's supposedly good.

"Such inconsistency clearly demonstrates that they're not interested in the content of the conclusion, but only in how to use it in their propaganda. However, this speculation won't work," Mamuka Mdinaradze noted.

He added that President Salome Zourabichvili's inadequate statements are related to her difficult emotional state.
