Markov: US-Armenia joint drills - hostile act against Russia

Armenia’s decision to conduct joint military exercises with the US and invite the US military to Armenia is not a friendly, but even a hostile act towards Russia, Russian political scientist, director of the Center for Political Studies Sergey Markov told the Russian bureau of Report.

“This decision by Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan caused anger in Moscow, in the leadership of Russia,” he said.

“It is difficult to say what the reaction of the leadership of the Russian Federation will be in the end, but it is absolutely clear that the leadership of Russia is angry with Armenia. I can say for sure that Russia has decided to intensify its policy towards Armenia and is ready to take decisive steps, since there is an understanding that expectation only leads to a worsening of the situation,” Markov said.

Earlier it was reported that the joint military exercises of Armenia and the US EAGLE PARTNER 2023 will be held on Armenian territory from September 11 to 20.
