Major crackdown on arms smuggling in Türkiye: nearly 3,000 weapons seized

A comprehensive operation targeting arms smugglers was carried out across all provinces of Türkiye, Ali Yerlikaya, the Minister of Internal Affairs, announced on X Report informs.

The minister noted that the “Mercek-25” operation led to the seizure of 2,738 weapons. This haul included 1,595 undocumented pistols, 442 blank-firing pistols, 45 long-barreled rifles, and 655 undocumented hunting rifles.

Legal action has been taken against 2,459 suspects. The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to continuing the fight against arms smuggling.
