Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko announced Tuesday that he had ordered his army to be "combat ready" during an uprising in neighboring Russia led by Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin, Report informs via Belarus media.
Speaking at a meeting with the military, Lukashenko said it was painful for him to watch the recent developments in Russia.
"Many of our citizens took them to heart as well. This is because we share one Fatherland," Lukashenko said.
"Every day for nearly 30 years, I have been getting ready for war together with you. Maybe that is why we live under a peaceful sky today,” said the Belarus leader.
He noted that the threat of a new global conflict has never been as real as it is today.
