One of the leaders of a group that was involved in the sexual exploitation of women in the UAE has been arrested in Armenia, according to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Report informs referring to Armenian media.

The criminal case has been ongoing since 2009. The investigation established that a woman who temporarily resided in the Emirates deceived Armenian citizens into the UAE and forced them into prostitution.

The criminal group was led by three people. The identities of the remaining members of the group and the victims were also established.

In 2006-2007, the group fraudulently smuggled five women out of Armenia, promising them jobs in Dubai. After their arrival, their passports were taken away and they were forced into prostitution, and they were taken away all the money they “earned.”

The investigation into the case has been completed and the materials have been sent to court.

Two other leaders of the group were convicted back in July 2009. The investigation into the remaining members of the group continues, and measures are being taken to locate them.
