Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Ukraine for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk said that the proposal to open humanitarian corridors from Ukraine towards Russia is absurd and unacceptable, Report informs, citing UNIAN.
"Humanitarian corridors. Russia has already frustrated their opening twice by shelling the routes. And now the Russians say they are ready to open the corridors but in the direction of the Russian Federation. That is, they want our citizens to go to the territory of the Russian Federation. Absurd, cynical, unacceptable," the minister said.
"Our people will not go from Ivankiv, Dymer, Vyshgorod, from near Kyiv to Belarus to then fly to the Russian Federation by plane. I hope that French President Macron understands that RF actually uses and manipulates his name and sincere desire to help the civilian population of Ukraine, and also to foreign citizens of China, Pakistan, India, and many other states," she said.
Vereshchuk called on the world community to put pressure on Russia because Ukraine needs humanitarian corridors to take civilians and foreigners out of the occupied territories and war zones.
"Only official messages of the Ukrainian authorities! Only they are the basis for the work of humanitarian corridors in the Ukrainian territory," she stressed.
Vereshchuk also said in a video message to citizens that Ukraine calls on Russia to establish a ceasefire and open humanitarian corridors from 10:00 on March 7 to evacuate citizens.
