Kuleba: Ukraine insists on expanding sanctions, oil and gas embargo on Russia

“Ukraine will continue to push for a full gas and oil embargo on Russia, cutting off all Russian banks from the SWIFT payment system, ensuring that all ports are closed to Russian ships and Russian goods, with a minimum number of exceptions based on humanitarian reasons,” the Foreign Affairs Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said, Report informs via Ukrainian media.

“A week ago, the sanctions proposals were much weaker, to put it mildly. We were very unhappy with this. We have been working with partners in the G7 and the EU to ensure that the sanctions pressure will increase. We have achieved success, but I cannot say that we have achieved 100% success. We will continue to push for a full gas and oil embargo on Russia, for the deswiftization of all Russian banks, for ensuring that all ports are closed to Russian ships and Russian goods, with a minimum of exceptions based on humanitarian reasons,” Kuleba said at a briefing with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels on Thursday.
