Kremlin: 'It will be difficult to extend grain deal'

The transportation of grain is risky and dangerous as there is no provision for traffic, Russian President's Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said commenting on the extension of the agreement on Ukraine's grain exports via the Black Sea, Report informs citing TASS.

"In a situation where Russia talks about the impossibility of ensuring navigation safety in these areas (the Black Sea - ed.), of course, it is difficult to extend the term of such a deal," he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier emphasized that the West deceived them in the implementation of the grain agreement and stated that the agreement would not be extended.

On July 22, a package of documents was signed in Istanbul to solve the problem of supplying food and fertilizers to world markets. One of the agreements regulates the procedure for exporting grain from Kyiv-controlled Black Sea ports. The Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul, established by Russia, Turkiye, Ukraine and the UN, is designed to prevent arms smuggling and inspect grain-carrying ships to rule out sabotage. Russia unilaterally rejected this agreement on October 29.
