Kosachev: Current leadership of Armenia is distancing country from Russia as much as possible

It will be very difficult for Armenia without normal neighborly relations with Russia, Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council, told a briefing at the Russia Today International Multimedia Press Center, Report informs.

"The dynamics regarding Armenia are clearly negative. Everything is obvious. The current leadership of Armenia is distancing the country from Russia as much as possible. But it seems to me that this is still a temporary plot in the lives of our neighbors because, without normal neighborly relations with Russia, it will be very difficult for Armenia," he said.

Kosachev noted that the hope that Armenia will be supported by Western friends is nothing but an illusion.

According to him, the situation in relations with Azerbaijan and Central Asian states is more stable: "It will depend more on the effectiveness of Russia's foreign policy."
