In 2024, the Kazakh-Chinese joint venture Ulba-TVS LLP reached its design capacity of 200 tons of low-enriched uranium in the form of fuel assemblies, Report informs via the press service of the national company Kazatomprom.
"Ulba-TVS is the only nuclear fuel manufacturing facility in Central Asia. The project is being implemented by Kazatomprom through its subsidiary, the Ulba Metallurgical Plant, jointly with China General Nuclear Power Corporation," the company's statement indicates.
Nuclear fuel production at Ulba-TVS was launched in November 2021.
All fuel assemblies produced at this plant are supplied to nuclear power plants in China.
