Kyrgyzstan strives to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, said President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov during a meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Report informs referring to Kyrgyz media.
He noted that other contenders, for example, the Philippines, have already been non-permanent members of the Security Council four times and intend to join it again. Voting on this issue will take place in 2026 as part of a meeting of the UN General Assembly.
“We have great hope that they will support us,” Japarov said.
Kyrgyzstan is applying for a place as a non-permanent member of the Security Council from 2027-2028.
