Iran supports accelerating peace talks between Armenia, Azerbaijan

The Iranian government supports accelerating the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Spokesperson for Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei said at a press conference, Report informs via Tasnim News Agency.

According to Baqaei, the Islamic Republic calls on both countries to continue working on this issue.

The spokesperson noted that Iran has always supported the development of transport routes, and this is an important issue in terms of economic development:

"We agree with the expansion of routes. However, the development of routes should not lead to changes in the geopolitics of the region. Another issue is the inclusion of players from outside the region, which does not serve the interests of the region's development and security."

Baqaei also emphasized that events in the South Caucasus and Iran's position on this issue have not changed.
