Iran’s Foreign Ministry summoned the Argentine charge d’affaires in Tehran to deliver a strong protest against recent allegations by Argentina’s judiciary against Iranian officials, Report informs via Mehr News Agency.
The Chargé d’affaires of Argentina in Tehran was summoned by Issa Kameli, Director General for the Americas at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Chargé d’affaires was delivered the Islamic Republic of Iran’s official note of strong protest.
During the meeting, Kameli conveyed the Islamic Republic’s categorical rejection and condemnation of the "unfounded accusations made by the Argentine judiciary and official authorities."
Notably, the Argentine Court has issued a decision regarding the accusation of high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic in the 1994 bombing of the Jewish Cultural Center in the capital city of Buenos Aires.
The investigation into the terrorist act, which claimed the lives of 85 people, has entered a new phase. Argentine prosecutor Sebastian Basso has appealed to the federal court for the arrest of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
A few years ago, Argentine Federal Court judge Rodolfo Corral sent a request to Russia regarding the arrest of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei's advisor on international affairs, former foreign minister Ali Akbar Velayati. At that time, Velayati was on a visit to Moscow.
As a result of the explosion carried out in 1994, 85 people were killed and 300 were injured.
