The Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced the Iranian cartoonist Atena Farghadani to 6 years in prison, her lawyer Mohammad Muhimi said on X, Report informs via Radio Farda.
According to the lawyer, the cartoonist was charged with "insulting the saints" and "propaganda against the regime".
Atena Farghadani is a cartoonist, artist and child rights activist. She was arrested for the first time in September 2014 by the SEPAH. Two months after that incident, in November, she went on a hunger strike to protest against her illegal detention. Farghadani was released on bail due to her deteriorating health.
Meanwhile, the Iranian court replaced the death sentence on Mohammad Khezranjad, a Kurdish cleric, with life imprisonment. He was accused of acting "against the territorial integrity and independence" of the country.
