Irakli Kadagishvili: President Ilham Aliyev very accurately assesses geopolitical realities

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev very accurately assesses the current geopolitical realities, the Chairman of the Committee on Regional Policy and Self-Government of the Parliament of Georgia, Irakli Kadagishvili. told Report.

According to Irakli Kadagishvili, it is regrettable that some EU representatives ignore these realities against the background of relations with Asian countries: "Georgia has always advocated for peace and cooperation in the South Caucasus. However, it is unacceptable for some forces to sow distrust between the countries of the region."

Kadagishvili noted that the positions of Georgia and Azerbaijan on this issue coincide and both countries coordinate their actions. In his opinion, Ilham Aliyev's statement is also a message to the EU: "It is impossible to change geopolitics and geography. Geography shows that the path between the Caspian and Black Seas passes only through Azerbaijan and Georgia."

He emphasized that Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate with China and other countries, and that this cooperation is possible only in conditions of peace and development: "This route – the road stretching from the Caspian to the Black Sea – should be used by everyone in the name of peace, development and prosperity. This approach should be correctly understood by EU leaders as well."

Regarding bilateral relations, Kadagishvili added that there are close relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan based on strategic partnership: "We are jointly striving for the development and protection of issues raised in the recent statement by President Ilham Aliyev."

Kadagishvili added that Georgia wants Azerbaijan to achieve peace with Armenia, and supports the formation of a cooperative environment between the three states of the South Caucasus.
