The inflation rate in Iran was 53.4% in February this year, Report informs, citing the statement of the Iranian Statistical Center.
Farshad Momeni, professor of economics at Tehran's Allameh Tabataba'i University, criticized the social policy implemented in Iran's economy in the last three decades, calling it 'the most subversive'. He warned that if the government does not agree to the fundamental reconstruction of the institutional structure, then Iran's economy will not survive.
According to him, the number of people living below the poverty level in Iran has increased. The economist emphasized that at least 25,500,000 people lived below the poverty level in Iran last year.
Farshad Momeni called the social security system one of the centers of crisis in Iran: "You can hide this information through dramatic creativity, but its dire consequences will be felt in the country."
