Early presidential elections may be held in Türkiye before 2028, with current President Recep Tayyip Erdogan potentially becoming the strongest candidate again, Report informs via Hürriyet newspaper.
The article, citing government circles, states that the decision on early elections could be made six months or a year before 2028.
"Türkiye's CHP (the largest opposition Republican People's Party) has begun to lose votes due to its presidential candidate and internal conflicts," the article says.
However, last week Erdogan rejected opposition statements about early presidential elections in the country, emphasizing that the next electoral cycle in the country will take place in 3.5 years.
