German vice chancellor arrives in Ukraine on unannounced visit

Vice Chancellor and Minister of Finance of Germany Lars Klingbeil has arrived in the capital of Ukraine on an unannounced visit, Report informs via DPA.

"I intend to discuss how Germany can best support Ukraine in a possible peace process," he told journalists upon his arrival in Kyiv.

He noted that reliable security guarantees are needed to ensure long-term peace.

"We are coordinating our actions at the international level. Germany will live up to its responsibility," he emphasized.

As part of the visit, Klingbeil will hold talks with representatives of the Ukrainian government and the Verkhovna Rada, as well as civil society. According to the German Ministry of Finance, since the beginning of the war, the country's government has provided Ukraine with aid in the amount of 50.5 billion euros.
