Georgian PM signs official application for EU membership

Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili signed an official application for Georgia to become a candidate for membership in the European Union (EU), Report informs.
In his address to the country's citizens, he called this day a historic day for Georgia.
Garibashvili noted that the appeal is the next important step towards Georgia's European integration.
Georgia planned to apply for EU membership in 2024. Against the background of the events in Ukraine, the neighbouring country decided yesterday to submit the appeal ahead of schedule.
