Georgian interior minister thanks Azerbaijan

Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri has thanked Azerbaijan for the proposal to send special equipment to extinguish forest fires, Report informs referring to the Georgian media.

The minister noted that at present, special equipment is not required to extinguish fires raging in the forests of the Borjomi region of the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, since it is difficult to get into the fire area due to the difficult terrain.

He noted that the area of ​​fire began to decline for the first time in the last five days.

He thanked Turkiye for sending three special planes. They helped a lot, as Georgian helicopters could not operate during the day due to strong winds, he added.

The minister stressed that the fires do not pose a threat to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
