Georgian FM: Existing relations with Azerbaijan will continue and be strengthened in the future

Georgian government has confirmed foreign policy strategy for 2019-2022, Report informs citing Georgian Foreign Ministry.

The strategy includes strategic goal, duties and concrete steps of Georgia’s foreign ministry for next four years.

The document says that relations with Azerbaijan are of strategic importance for Georgia: ‘Existing relations with Azerbaijan will continue and be strengthened in the future’.

According to the strategy, Georgia and Azerbaijan will place emphasis on cooperation in energy electron communication, transit and defense fields: ‘Special attention will be paid to maximum use of new opportunities after determination of the status of the Caspian Sea, coordination and joint efforts with Azerbaijan on involvement of cargos in Caspian Sea-Black Sea transport corridor’.

The document also says that Georgia will continue its efforts for strengthening of existing trilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan and Turkey.
