Georgia says pandemic turns into endemic

"All indications are there that coronavirus in Georgia is turning from pandemic to endemic," Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia told a briefing, the local bureau of Report informs.

She said that there are all indications that the epidemiological situation in Georgia is improving rapidly:

"This does not mean that the situation should be out of our radar. It is not yet time to give up the protective mask. We believe that the spread of the infection will be more local than pandemic."

The first case of COVID-19 infection in Georgia was registered on February 26, 2020. So far, 1,639,678 people have been infected with the virus, of which 1,564,011 have been treated and 16,612 have died.
