Georgia easing COVID restrictions from March 1

From March 1, Georgia will lift most of the COVID restrictions that were in place, Report’s Georgian bureau informs.

According to the new rules, all foreign citizens who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be able to freely cross both the air and land borders of Georgia.

Unvaccinated individuals will be required to submit a negative PCR test taken 72 hours prior to travel. PCR testing on the third day after arrival is no longer required.

Similar rules apply to citizens of Georgia. If the visitor doesn’t have test results or a vaccination certificate, they will have to spend five days in quarantine.

Since March 1, the allowable accumulation of people in closed spaces has also increased.

So, in restaurants and cafes, not six, but ten people can sit at one table, and up to 15 instead of 10 in open establishments.

Observing these rules, it is allowed to hold feasts, arrange weddings and commemorations with an unlimited number of guests.

From March 1, quarantine spaces that were equipped in hotels are abolished.

Georgia also abolished mandatory temperature checks, as well as registration logs and disinfection barriers.

Wearing masks remains mandatory in Georgia, both outdoors and indoors. The Georgian authorities have stated that they will not remove this restriction until the epidemiological situation is completely stabilized.
