Georgia bans export of wheat & barley for 1 year

The Georgian government has decided to introduce an annual ban on the export of locally produced wheat and barley from July 4 in order to avoid a shortage of these agricultural products within the country, according to the press service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Report informs citing TASS.
“Given the situation that has developed in the region, in order to ensure food security, it is important that locally produced wheat and barley are sold only on the domestic market. Taking into account all of the above, the government decided from July 4 this year until July 4, 2023 to ban the export of wheat and barley produced in Georgia,” Minister Otar Shamugia said.
