Garibashvili: Georgian Dream can get 60% of votes in parliamentary elections

The ruling Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party can get 60% of the votes, but the opposition has no chance, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili said, Report informs referring to Georgian media.

“If the elections were today, the Georgian Dream would gain at least 60%. We aren’t worried about the elections, but we are preparing to get the maximum result that our country, our people need to continue peace, stability and rapid economic development,” he noted.

He added that today the opposition has no chance of winning.

“The Georgian people see very well. They know very well that there is no third force in the country today. There is a force opposing our political power, and ultimately our country and people - the United National Movement” or the new “National Movement,” such as the Khazaradze association or other small losers. They are trying to unite and thus overcome the 5 percent barrier,” Garibashvili said.

Parliamentary elections will be held in Georgia on October 26. Registration of parties has already started and will end in early September.

The parliamentary elections in 2024 will be the first elections to be held entirely according to the proportional system, and parties that receive at least 5% of the votes will enter parliament.
