Garibashvili: Baku, Yerevan interested in transition to new stage in relations

"We have an excellent opportunity to use the new situation in the region," Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said in an interview with Imedi TV.

"The reason I say it is the position of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Both stand for peace in the region," he noted.

Report quotes the Georgian PM as saying both leaders are interested in moving to a new stage in relations between the two countries, including new regional projects, infrastructure, energy, trade, economy, and other fields.

"If we show the second example of this success (humanitarian agreement - ed.), it will help the three countries and the entire region," the prime minister said.

He noted that Georgia always played and is currently playing the right role in the Caucasus.

"I think today we have a unique chance. I personally have warm and reliable relations with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. We maintain very open brotherly and fraternal relations, and there is direct unhampered communication," the head of government said.
