Expert: Relations between Russia and Armenia remain complicated

Relations between Russia and Armenia remain rather complicated, said a leading analyst at the Agency for Political and Economic Communications Mikhail Neyzhmakov, Report informs.

"One can recall the recent interview given by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, where he expressed the opinion of the need to focus on different power centers," the expert said.

He said that joint military exercises between Armenia and the United States were expected: "Conducting joint military exercises in Armenia with the participation of the US side will certainly not create enthusiasm in Moscow. We have seen Russian officials' concern about this."

According to him, this step of Yerevan was not a surprise for Moscow, since this year, relations between the US and Armenia in the field of defense, among other issues, are developing quite actively.

"The fact that such exercises are now taking place is, in principle, a logical continuation of the line chosen by the official Yerevan," he added.
