Halt of gas transit from Ukraine has put Moldova, especially the Transnistrian population, in a very difficult situation, Moldovan expert Cornel Churya told Report.
"Currently, people on the left bank of the Dniester are left without heat. They have very limited gas reserves to continue their heat supply. We are already constantly looking for alternative sources. After January 8, the crisis will reach its peak. I think that Gazprom can deliver gas to Moldova in other ways and cheaper, as a way out," the expert emphasized.
According to him, the danger that Moldova will soon be completely without gas and heat has increased.
"The only way to find a solution in the short term may be the support of the European Union. But this will not pay for our energy supply normally. Western Europe does not have the resources to provide Eastern Europe, which is left without gas, normally and quickly. The only visible solution is to resolve the issue of Russian gas deliveries through other ways," Cornel Churya said.
