Tbilisi. 17 December. REPORT.AZ/ David Kirkitadze, a former governor of Kvemo Kartli region where Azerbaijanis live, has been involved in the investigation.
Georgian Bureau of Report News Agency informs that David Kirkitadze is accused of violence against police officers.
Though law enforcement officials gathered in front of the building of the former governor, he refused to open the door until his lawyer arrived. Kirkitadze said he would go to the police station himself.
Georgian Interior Ministry informed that Kirkitadze was involved in the investigation over non-compliance to the police by using force.
Notably, Kirkitadze was the governor of Kvemo Kartli in 2008-2013. He is one of the leaders of the opposition party "Power Together" and United National Movement Party. Last day confrontation occured between the police and opposition who were going to Telavi city, where Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili's inauguration ceremony took place. As a result, nearly 10 police officers were injured.
