EU imposes sanctions on Russia over Navalny's death

The European Union has imposed sanctions on 33 people, including IK-6 and IK-3 corrective colonies as well as Russian Deputy Minister of Justice Vsevolod Vukolov, judges of the Russian Supreme Court, police officers and the Federal Penitentiary Service, in connection with the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Report informs with reference to the EU’s official journal.

As was reflected in the order of the EU Council, the list of sanctions includes Deputy Minister of Justice Vsevolod Vukolov, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Russia Pyotr Serkov, Chairman of the Appellate Council of the Supreme Court of Russia Vladimir Zaitsev, First Deputy Head of the Federal Penitentiary Service Valery Boyarinev, Head of the Moscow Federal Penitentiary Service Sergey Moroz, heads and deputies of the colonies where Navalny was sentenced, as well as their employees, including the doctor of IK-6 corrective colony.

All EU blacklisted individuals are banned from entering the union and their assets will be frozen if found in the EU.

As for the IK-6 and IK-3 corrective colonies, which are legal entities, European businesses are prohibited from having any contact with them and providing them with financial resources in any form, be it loans or investments.
