EU finances purchase of special trucks for Georgian Border Police

The Georgian border police received 10 off-road trucks from the International Organization for Migration. The ceremony of handing over the trucks took place at the Red Bridge checkpoint, Report informs referring to the Georgian media citing the representation of the EU in the country.

The EU has allocated 790,000 euros for the purchase of vehicles for border posts in remote areas.

The project “Border and Migration Management Action for Georgia (BMMAG)” has been implemented in the country within the EU Sustainable Development Program since 2022. This is the continuation of extensive EU support over the past 10 years to develop Georgia’s migration and border management capabilities.

The EU office in Tbilisi said Georgia’s 65 border posts, located in difficult terrain, require a special type of truck.
