EU envoy: Georgia submitted action plan on implementing new conditions to EC

The Georgian authorities have already submitted to the European Commission (EC) an action plan prepared by the country’s government to fulfill the new conditions to obtain the status of a candidate for accession to the European Union, the EU Ambassador to Georgia Pavel Gerchinsky said, Report imports via Georgian media.

The action plan for implementing the EC recommendations was approved at a meeting of the European Integration Commission, which was held on November 27 under the leadership of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. The document outlines specific steps that must be implemented within the framework of the recommendations and identifies responsible departments and deadlines for implementation.

The Ambassador recalled that on November 8 the EC gave a positive assessment in connection with granting the candidate status to Georgia. Now, according to Gerchinsky, the decision will be considered by 27 EU countries and a decision will be made on December 14-15.

“I am very glad that this exchange is taking place in order not to waste time and make sure that reforms are going in the right direction, so that after receiving candidate status in December, Georgia will take the next steps as soon as possible and catch up with Ukraine and Moldova,” he said.
