Erdogan: Sweden and Finland won't be able to join NATO unless Turkiye's demands are met

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he would not allow Sweden and Finland to join the NATO alliance until Turkiye's demands are met, Report informs, citing TRT TV channel.

"As long as Sweden and Finland support terrorist organizations, they should not expect a positive attitude from us towards their NATO membership. No one should expect us to make concessions on this issue," Erdogan said.

He explained that if the situation with the support of Kurdish militias and parties that Turkiye considers terrorist does not change, the Turkish parliament will block the entry of new countries into NATO.

"This is not as simple as it seems if they think that they will immediately be accepted into NATO. The memorandum signed in Madrid is only an invitation, and we told all our NATO colleagues about this," Erdogan said.
