Eastern Forces: Ukrainian military continue to hold positions in Bakhmut

The Ukrainian military continues to hold positions in Bakhmut and repel attacks by the invaders. The defenders have not left the city, Spokesperson of the Eastern Forces of the Ukrainian Army, Colonel Serhiy Cherevaty, told Suspilne TV, Report informs.

"The enemy is being destroyed every day by massive artillery and air strikes, and our units report that the situation is very difficult. Our military is holding fortifications and several premises in the southwestern part of the city. There are fierce battles," he said.

At the same time, Cherevaty added that the occupiers attach symbolic importance to Bakhmut, but statements about the capture of the city were premature. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to put pressure on the enemy on the flanks.

“Russia draws attention to Bakhmut as if they take the Dnieper. In fact, they didn’t take it fully. The city was destroyed, it doesn’t bring them any military or even political benefit. They couldn’t take the regional center in 9 months. We are trying to put pressure on the flanks, don't let them rest and, if possible, counterattack," the spokesperson stressed.
